Upcoming Journal Check & New Contest! [23 Aug 2009|07:50pm] First up, I'd like to apologize to everyone in the community for my absence in the past few weeks. I've been working a lot, far more hours per week than I was when I first started the community. To all of those that wanted to come to me as a mod or as a player and couldn't because I have been M.I.A, I'm very sorry for that. The August journal check for Greenhorn and Trailblazer characters will be Monday, August 31. Yes, that means that the Greenhorns get an extra week. I figure it's the fairest thing I can do considering I haven't even been online much lately. And honestly, I think it'll take at least a week for me to catch up. To all players - if you need to request a hiatus, now is the time! Though remember, posting a AIM log/thread is equivalent to a journal update. As if said before, I'll mod this community with fifty people or five as long as it's active, friendly, and fun. Just because I've been AFK lately does not mean that I plan on closing the community. In fact, I aim to increase activity and most of all, for everyone to get together and have fun. Since the community rules have been amended to make thread/AIM log posts equivalent to a journal entry, I think there will be less of a future need for Update Immunity tickets as an incentive for contest winners. So, I thought of something else... To put the "game" in roleplay game, I thought about offering prizes that can be used in real life. From August 24-October 31, there will be a race to see who can accumulate the most points from Lagniappe games. Grand Prize: $20 virtual gift card First Runner-Up: $10 virtual gift card Second Runner-Up: $5 virtual gift card Choices for gift card merchants: Amazon.com, iTunes, LiveJournal.com, InsaneJournal.com. The winners get to choose. How it will work: 1.) Everyone who has points already - congratulations, you have a leg up here! 2.) Update Immunity tickets will still be awarded occasionally and used as they previously were. They are worth 20 points. 3.) All of the Lagniappes could potentially be worth points. It will be random and at my discretion. Sometimes participating in a Free For All post like WTF! Friday will be worth points, sometimes it won't. Sometimes I'll host a AIM group chat and announce that everyone in the room earns points; Sometimes anyone who submits a song for Rycade Radio will win points. 4.) The only Lagniappes guaranteed to win points every time are the Rycade Lottery, Busy Bees, and the Pimp Olympics. 5.) Players with multiple characters may only win under one character name. 6.) Players with multiple characters cannot combine all of their characters' points to win. 7.) Participation in this contest and all Lagniappe games is always optional. There will be a sign-up post when the contest starts on August 24 (tomorrow), but players may always opt out. Remember, this is just a game so let's be good sports about it, This is my way of saying thank you to those who are active and are all about writing and having fun. principles & rules [27 May 2009|02:02am] principles (1.) Always remember to keep OOC opinions out of IC play. Be respectful and come to the moderators with any questions or concerns. (2.) Diversity - we welcome minority PBs, slash/femmeslash characters, and people with back stories that vary from extraordinary to mundane. Just keep it real and real creative! (3.) The cast is divided into two categories - Trailblazers and Greenhorns. The Trailblazers are a group of characters that were the first to be introduced in the community. The Greenhorns are all subsequent characters that are added - to enter the community, each new character must have a MINIMUM of two connections to a character in game. Of course, we encourage unlimited connections between pending characters. If a Trailblazer is removed/decides to leave, the Greenhorn character with the most connections becomes bumped up to main cast. (4.) The character limit is 2 characters/player. (5.) Activity in AIM/threads, journal posts, and posting in denizens is the lifeblood of the game The update rule for the Trailblazers is one substantial, multiple paragraph length journal entry every four weeks. The update rule for the Greenhorns is one substantial, multiple paragraph length journal entry every three weeks. Removals will be done on the last Monday of every month (for Greenhorns) and the last day of every month (for Trailblazers).
